Where does the Jewish Community finds Itself in 2017? As we confront the issues of this year and our new administration, as we consider the rise in hate crimes and the effort to restrict admission of many peoples into the US, we need to take stock. What are issues for the American Jewish community, as diverse as we are? What do our texts and our teachers have to say on the issues that confront us? Have we been here before—in the US? In the world? What can we learn from those times? And are there aspects of what exists today that are new and unfamiliar, and how should we respond to those?
